The Trattoria Gianni Franzi, with just 23 rooms, sits below the Castle Doria above Vernazza about 100 steps above the main piazza of Vernazza, a climb many travelers may find difficult.
| The rooms are divided into two buildings, an older one (at No 41) and a newer one (at No 47). The rooms in the older building are nicely decorated with a flavor of ships and seas, some having private bathrooms and some not. Many have small balconies which offer great views of the Tyrrhenian Sea below. |

The rooms in the newer building are comfortable but lack views. On the other hand, guests will enjoy larger bathrooms and access to a cliff hanging garden with incredible views.
When you arrive, check in at the Gianni's Trattoria on the harbour square (or at the Gelateria by the grotto if you arrive on Wednesday when the Trattoria is closed) and pick up your keys. Then make the climb up the long, winding staircase to the old or newer building depending on your room.
