Le Gugliaie:

Gugliaie, one of the farmhouses on the Fattoria Le Corti estate, was completely restored in 2000, when modern amenities were installed while retaining the original architectural structure and characteristic farmhouse features. In the centre of the house is a spacious kitchen with hearth and an old oven for baking bread. All the bedrooms have en suite bathrooms and the master bedroom has a small loggia with view overlooking Villa Le Corti. From the swimming pool, the garden, designed by Oliva di Collobiano, fades naturally into the surrounding olive-groves.

This apartment is situated on a spur of the farm buildings and its position accounts for the unusual shape of its interior. A short flight of steps leads up to the private garden, which is suitably equipped for pleasant meals al fresco. In the centre of the house, in keeping with true Tuscan tradition, is the charming kitchen with fireplace, which has been converted into a living room with kitchenette that was renovated in 2002. The bedrooms are on the first floor and are reached by a steep internal stone stairway.

The Villa Le Corti

With its splendid setting and stately architecture, Villa Le Corti is one of Tuscany's finest examples of a Renaissance residence.

The first fifteenth century Florentine land registry records that the Corsini family have owned the Villa since 1427.

At that time the building consisted of a simple fortified tower facing north-west, which was part of a fortification line built in the Pesa Valley to defend Florence.

In the early seventeenth century it was converted into the present-day building, on a design attributed to the painter and architect Santi di Tito.

The frescoes by Bernardino Poccetti, decorating the family chapel, date from the same period.

The Italian garden and extensive park, divided by a path lined with centuries-old cypress trees, give a delightful sense of spaciousness, in harmony with the Renaissance architecture of the rectangular-shaped villa dominated by her two towers.

An embankment in the garden conceals three tiers of cellars and a olive oil jar store where the Estate's prized produce is produced and stored: Chianti Classico wine and extra virgin olive oil.
