The Relais Sant’Eligio is a unique and interesting property dating back to 500 AD when Puglia was ruled by the Aragonese court. At one time the building served as the post office for the area.
The Relais sits along one of the most exclusive stretches of the Adriatic Sea about 800 meters from the historical center of Ostuni. It is a small hotel with just 22 well decorated and very comfortably furnished air conditioned rooms - all with private bathrooms, TV, and other amenities the seasoned traveler expects. The interior courtyard, lobby, restaurant and other public areas are done in the Pugliese style and are quite stunning.
The Adriatic at Ostuni is beautiful and the coast line is still unspoiled with many wonderful beaches. It runs for 20 km from North to South punctuated by a series of long beaches, small inlets, reefs, dunes and Mediterranean vegetation.
Guests can chose to spend their day on a beautiful white sand beach, or relaxing along the unique reef. We would be glad to suggest beautiful exclusive private beaches where the guest can get all the services needed at discounted prices. Most of the private beaches have secured parking, restrooms, showers, and everything else the guest may need to enjoy a relaxing day.
The Relais Sant’Eligio offers a shuttle service to and from the beaches, which are all a few minutes away.
The Relais is also home to a terrific litte restaurant, the l'Antica Posada Restaurant, serving Pugliese cuisine.
The local area offers a rich historical legacy and is chock a block full of archaeological sites, fortified masserias, and even underground olive mills. The "highway of oil" (Olive oil producing areas) touches the cities of Ostuni, Carovigno, and Cisternino.
Aragonite towers and fortified structures, erected with a determined defensive goal in an area that is particularly vulnerable to invasions become a wonderful route to discover. The itinerary of the masserias is the most enthusiasmatic discovery. A territory to be routed by zigzagging between the sea and the intern land to discover a sweet and desolated landscape, an exuberant nature that blends the perfume of De Sea with essences of the country. At a small distance you can visit some unique places: Lecce with its baroque, Alberobello with its characteristic trulli, Castel del Monte of Frederick II, the excavations of Egnatia, Martina Franca and the valley of Itria, Torre Guaceto protected oasis and the Zoo safari of Fasano.
