General
Liguria is the coastal strip
that links southern France
and Tuscany. Pastel-coloured
houses fill the tranquil,
coastal and inland villages
where aristocrats came to
spend winters in gracious
mansions at the end of the
19th century. It nestles at
the foot of vine covered
mountains so is sheltered
enjoying a mild
Mediterranean climate and
provides colourful trees and
plants all year.
Location
Villa Elena is typically
19th century, commodious and
now divided into two parts,
one for the owners, the
other on offer here and both
completely autonomous. The
spacious, high ceilinged
rooms are furnished with
fine antique pieces and
comfortable sofas. A large,
furnished and railed terrace
to the front overlooks
hilltop villages and the
entirety is backed by the
Apennine Mountains. The
covered car park is above
and behind the property and
steps lead downhill to the
accommodation and orchard at
ground level. Exploring
Liguria is both cultural and
fun. Within a thirty-minute
drive are the glorious
beaches of Viareggio, Forte
dei Marmi and Portofino, the
most exclusive resort town
in Italy. Levanto too is a
most charming coastal town
with excellent beaches. The
more dramatic coastline of
the Cinque Terre is also
within a half-hour drive
where five, cliff edge
villages remain unlinked by
road, reachable only by
ancient footpaths high above
the sea and offering superb
vistas. The Villa Elena
overlooks the ancient
village of Brugnato, which
is approximately 600 meters
distant with shops,
pizzeria, restaurant and
everything for immediate
needs and the little
hill-top village of Cornice
which is a must to visit.
Layout
Steps lead down to the first
floor, and then on to the
ground level. Here the
entrance is into a spacious
sitting room with open
fireplace. The kitchen has
an indoor barbecue, cooker,
oven, fridge, dishwasher and
a divider to the dining
room. The utility room has
washing machine and freezer
and another room has a
full-size, antique billiard
table. One single room has
adjacent shower room with WC
etc. On the higher level are
two double-bedded rooms, one
single room and a bathroom
with bath, shower cubicle,
WC etc.
There is a final cleaning
charge of 100.00 Euros,
payable locally.
