La
Cantina del Contadino Agriturismo Quercia is a
large, comfortable country home and B&B that
dates back to the XIX century where you can
enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days. It
is an ideal place for those who want to relax
and enjoy a unique vacation experience.
Agriturismo Quercia is located near the town of
Rende and offers to the visitors healthy air,
unspoiled views and, of course, great
hospitality. Tennis courts and other sports
facilities are close by and in about twenty
minutes you can get to the well-equipped sandy
beaches on Calabria’s Tyrrhenian coast. The
capital of the province, the city of Cosenza is
less than an hour away by car and you can reach
Naples via the A3 motorway in three hours.
Nature lovers can reach the mountainous areas of
the Sila National Park and the breathtaking
beauty of Campo Sila, a few minutes drive away,
or Lake Cecita, which is a one hour drive from
the farm. Not far from Rende is another
national park, Pollino Natural Park, which is
home to wolves, bears, chamois and many other
endangered species. In wintertime the white
slopes of Monte Curcio and the Pollino mountains
offer fabulous skiing.
Guests who are interested in art and history can
visit the ancient towns of Rende, Cosenza,
Bisignano, Cerisano, Altomonte, S.Severina and
San Marco. If you want to spend an entertaining
night out head for Rende, the largest and most
dynamic town in the area with a wide choice of
restaurants, entertainment and cultural events.
Perched on a hill, the charming town of Rende
with its ancient houses, churches and Norman
castle, is surrounded by woods of centuries-old
olive trees (Bruzio's olive oil is one of the
best in the world). Guests who want to
experience an even larger city can travel to
Cosenza which is about 30 minutes beyond Rende.
Agriturismo Quercia prides itself on a wide
variety of naturally grown products and
naturally prepared foods, and all the food
prepared and cooked at the B&B are done
according to traditional Calabrian ways.
Guests can sample and purchase a variety of
wines produced locally, including the “Rubinio”,
the “Robrioso” and the “Biancoro”, three wines
available in the Agriturismo made by selected
grapes of local vineyards such as the
“Gaglioppo”, the “Magliocco” and the “Greco”,
red and white . Traditional procedures together
with technology and experience give life to real
nectars to taste along old time farmer cooking
dishes presented again with naturalness to offer
