Tortora Museum
The museum at Tortora is located at the
base of the village overlooking a deep
ravine. It is only accessible by
foot, though many signs within the village
will help visitors navigate its
whereabouts.
It is open from 8AM until 2:00PM and in
July and August from 4:30PM until
10:30PM. From September onwards, it is
open from 3PM until 9PM.
At present, they have no information in
English, though the remains and their
dates can be easily understood.
They have numerous ruins that were located
in 1999 surrounding the Noce River from
the Bronze Age and Magna Graecia. Most
of the findings they believe come from the
vast settlement on the river below the
ancient village, between 450 and 540
A.D.
The museum is working hard at present, to
provide English speaking visitors with
further information. |
